In addition to Norte Energia’s work with all stakeholders, the Company’s relationship with communities is a matter that requires continuous and in-depth attention.
As is typically the case with large-scale projects – and as provided for in the Environmental Impact Analysis (EIA) – the construction and operation of Belo Monte HPP generate both positive impact and social and environmental challenges. To ensure impact mitigation, the Company implements ongoing programs, permanent monitoring and transparent dialogue with local communities.
In compliance with Operating License (OL) No. 1317/2015, Norte Energia maintains social and environmental programs that include social monitoring and technical assistance to fishermen and riverside dwellers in the Volta Grande do Xingu area. These initiatives contribute to sustainable development and improving the living conditions of impacted communities*.
