Norte Energia reaffirms its respect for human rights through its Human Rights Policy, approved in 2022 and based on recognized international instruments, such as: Universal Declaration of Human Rights; International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights; International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights; Declaration of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work of the International Labour Organization (ILO); Fundamental Conventions of the ILO; and American Convention on Human Rights of the Organization of American States (OAS).

This document guides our operations and our value chain, fostering the appreciation and promotion of fundamental rights in all our activities. Furthermore, the Policy is aimed at all Company structures, including Senior Executives, Board members, Administration area, members of advisory committees and the Supervisory Board, employees, agents, outsourced workers, service providers, business partners, investors, suppliers, representatives, customers and supported organizations.

Norte Energia expanded its initiatives aimed at promoting human rights through structured training and prevention actions, targeting both the workforce and the value chain.

In tackling rights violations, such as child labor, forced labor, and modern slavery, Norte Energia maintains a preventive and systematic approach, which encompasses three fundamental steps:

I) Pre-hiring: use of verification systems, such as consulting negative media, legal proceedings and restriction lists. Suppliers also complete a questionnaire evaluated by the Risk, Internal Controls and Compliance Department, which assesses any risks involved and defines mitigation actions.

II) Hiring: Norte Energia’s contracts include clauses that mandate adherence to the guidelines of the Code of Conduct and Ethics and the Human Rights and Sustainability Policies.

III) Inspection: the Health and Safety team carries out inspections and audits, checking documents and working conditions. Irregularities generate a Deviation Report, which details the applicable corrective actions.

Additionally, our employee hiring process strictly follows labor legislation, with special attention to the minimum legal age and proper formalization of intern and young apprentice contracts. The Company also maintains and widely publicizes its Whistleblower Channel, guaranteeing anonymity and security to whistleblowers, in addition to ensuring the responsible and transparent investigation of all reports received.

These actions are part of Norte Energia’s Human Rights governance and reflect the Company’s ongoing efforts to promote decent working conditions, respect diversity, and value human integrity in all its operations.
